It’s because of the shape of their elongated molars, which featured a series of rounded bumps. Very handy in chewin’ up plant materials. The only teeth pachyderms have are the molars in the back of their mouths, so mammoths and elephants have similar teeth.
At least the tusks are coming from nipples.
Nipple tusks would be much worse. Imagine…Cause of Death: Bored by nipple tusks.
